Gavin, the mascot for Just Cats Tasmania, is calling Agfest home this weekend.

Gavin arrived at the Just Cats shelter at seven months old after he was found as a feral on a property in Deloraine.

He had been adopted out twice, but because he was returned both times, the shelter kept him as their mascot, said Just Cats founder Rachel Beech

"He's absolutely amazing in the shelter, he greets everybody who's in there, accepts all the new cats that arrive, and so he actually became our mascot," she said. "We actually take him to all our educational talks and to nursing homes and hospitals and all of those sorts of things to do the greet and meet with people."

A party for Gavin's birthday is being organised to raise much-needed funds for the shelter.

"There will be lots of auctions, and raffles, and prizes and everything on the night," Ms Beech said.

Just Cats takes in unwanted kittens and cats, and desexes, vaccinates, and microchips them before placing them out for adoption.

Since opening in 2012, Just Cats have re-homed more than 1000 cats and kittens.

Details for Gavin's 2nd Birthday Party can be found at justcats.org.au and at their stall at Agfest.
