A Purr-fect Encounter

Gavin, the feline mascot of Just Cats Tasmania, made a grand impression with Labor leader Bill Shorten yesterday.

Bill met Gavin during the Opposition Leader’s visit to Agfest, and here he learned how Just Cats Tasmania is helping connect lost cats to loving families.

The organisation is helping more cats now than ever before. Now using the old RSPCA Longford shelter, up to 3,500 cats come through Just Cats Tasmania’s doors each year.

“We love being at Agfest. It helps us find homes for some of our cats, especially ones that have been at the shelter for quite some time,” says Just Cats Tasmania founder Rachel Beech.

Agfest is a great opportunity for the team to give these cats a perfect home and meet some political celebrities along the way.

“It’s also fantastic awareness to get people to understand what we do and to educate people about cat responsibility,” says Rachel.
