Air force launches hot air balloon

The Australian Air Force catches the attention of Agfest visitors with their hot air balloon dominating the sky.

“It’s all about community engagement,” says Gavin Patching, a reserve who helps run the balloon at events all over Australia.

Gavin says that the air force’s presence at events like Agfest is all about teaching the community about what the Air Force does.

This way rural Tasmanians can interact with the Air Force and take a ride in a hot air balloon, for some a first-in-a-lifetime experience.

It’s free to ride the balloon, and there is an exhibit for Defence Force recruiting on the corner of main and fourth street.
