Protecting Tassie's Dairy Industry One Farm at a Time

Dairy Australia and DairyTas continue to provide a vital service for the State's dairy industry.

"First and foremost, we're a support system for the farmers, so we absolutely love being a part of Agfest," DairyTas Regional Manager Deb Morice says.

"It gives us an opportunity to talk about our programs and connect with those working in the industry."

DairyTas is funded through the dairy produce levy and helps make sure the State's dairy farms are well-equipped so farmers can better manage changing times.

At this year's Agfest, Deb and the team have set out to promote the organisations major campaigns and services.

"A really big part of what we do is the Our Farm Our Plan program, which is designed as a consultation service for our dairy farmers. It is set up as a two-year course on business and financial fundamentals, and enables farmers to clarify long-term goals, ensure livestock health, and identify potential risks."

In conjunction with existing programs, Dairy Australia and DairyTas are also excited to get started on new projects entering the pipeline.

"We are very pleased to announce that the government has allocated funds for the development of a permanent organisation site and fit-for-purpose building."

"We are also excited to roll out our Carbon Calculator assessment tool," says Deb.

Similar to the Our Farm Our Plan program, the Dairy Australia Carbon Calculator will act as a consultative service for farmers to target emissions goals and targets.
