Canteen Tasmania- 2021’s charity of choice bringing fun in the sun to patrons of Agfest

From games to bike-blended slushies, Canteen Tasmania’s stall at Agfest will impress, with their aim to remain in the forefront of Tasmanians’ minds.

With numerous creative and fun activities, Canteen’s stall is run by a group of exuberant and bubbly young people eager to spread awareness about Canteen and how it supports young people who have been effected by cancer in Tasmania.

Canteen is an Australia-wide organisation that offers support to young people who have cancer in their family. The organisation was founded by young people with young people in mind; like the Canteen stall holders themselves who’s passion for Canteen is founded in the support they received.

Being the successful applicant for Agfest’s charity partner in 2020, Canteen was invited back in 2021 which is a thrilling outcome for member Georgia Richardson. The partnership includes a stall right at the main gates and a percentage of the profits going to young people affected by cancer.

When Agfest announced Canteen as the charity of choice in 2020 Agfest Chairman Ethan Williams said that “many of our Rural Youth Tasmania members have been touched by cancer in some way in their lives” and that the committee is incredibly proud of their choice in supporting an organisation that is so close to the demographic of Rural Youth.

The stall at Agfest features a number of downtime activities with games, make your own peddle-powered slushies and a tie-dye your own Canteen bandanna station.

Images of patron’s bandannas can be taken home and uploaded online with the hashtag #canteenagfest2021 to go into the draw to win some prizes.

The Canteen stall can be found at M11 on Main Street.
