Scouts Tasmania bring adventure to Agfest.
With the best view of Quercus Park, Scouts Tasmania have returned to Agfest to spread their positive energy and give patrons a thrill with their rock climbing and abseiling tower.
"Foremost we're her for a bit of fun. But we're also promoting the inspiring opportunities and experiences you have being a Scout," says Ross Smith, Adventurous Activity Team Member.
As a volunteer youth organisation, Scouts Tasmania offer young people the chance to develop a range of valuable interpersonal and practical skills involving teamwork, leadership and resilience as the key learning principles.
"We really look to get people out of their comfort zone, but in a safe and encouraging learning environment. The beauty of it is we get to meet a lot of different people. Some climb straight up the tower and others get to the top and say 'nah this isn't for me' which is completely fine," says Ross.
In young Oliver's case it was the former.
"I did it last year and really enjoyed it, so I begged mum to come back again," Oliver says.
"My favourite part is the repelling. It really gets your heart going and makes you feel like you're on the edge of the world."
