The Rural Youth Organisation of Tasmania has postponed Agfest 2022, from May 4-7 until August 24-27, due to concerns on running an economically viable event in May.

The decision to postpone was not taken lightly and involved consultation with our key stakeholders including exhibitors and sponsors as well as the Tasmanian Government. We thank the Government for their ongoing support.

All exhibitors, sponsors, contractors, community organisations, emergency services, the local Council, industry groups and others associated with the delivery of the four-day event scheduled for May 4-7 have been informed of the postponement decision this morning.

Exhibitor applications will be postponed immediately and reopen on February 1 2022 and close on February 28 2022.

Rural Youth State President Josh Mison said

“It is with careful consideration and investigation we have made the decision to postpone Agfest 2022 from May to August.
The safety of our patrons, members and exhibitors remains paramount as well as ensuring the financial viability of our event.
We know the Tasmanian community will continue to support Rural Youth and Agfest and we thank you for your ongoing support and patience."

Agfest Committee Chairman Caine Evans said

“The decision to postpone the event to August was not taken lightly by the Agfest Committee.
But we recognise that the safety of our volunteers, staff, exhibitors, sponsors, and patrons is of the upmost importance as is holding a financially successful event for our exhibitors.
Our volunteers and staff are dedicated and ready to go to ensure Agfest 2022 in August is a great event for all.”

We look forward to welcoming the community to the paddock on August 24 2022.
