An Agricultural Blast from the Past

Heritage display takes patrons on a step back in time

Agfest is plentifully stocked with a wide and impressive collection of brand new, cutting edge agricultural machinery, but we also have to acknowledge the work of their predecessors.

That's why the team behind the Agricultural Heritage Display are demonstrating their extensive collection of vintage machinery, allowing patrons to take a step back in time and gain an insight into the practices of farming pioneers.

From daily steam engine demonstrations, to archaic tool and equipment displays, to the tractors and vehicles of yesteryear, there is sure to be a fascinating story or two to be told.

For exhibitor Nigel Boyd, it's an opportunity to take in the sights and showcase his spare-time hobby.

"This year will be my 12th year at Agfest. There is always something different or new to see and discover."

Despite being surrounded by an engrossing range of vintage showpieces, Nigel has established a small section reserved for his proud model paddle-streamer collection.

"This year I'm showing off my 1890 replica Mississippi paddle-steamer made entirely out of hand-crafted timber which took me about three years to make."

"As long as it brings a smile to someone's face, I'll be happy as well," says Nigel.

The Heritage Display is located on the north side of Sixth & Seventh Avenue.
